bush defeated john kerry, killed with recrimination and remorse. what could we have done. all of that is healthy ultimately. but that should not be interpreted by this president as a foundation of his strength or source of republican weakness. it is a process of rebuilding strength. as we look at what he said today, he said he wants to talk about balance. but didn't talk about spending cuts. all of these -- more than 20 new taxes will not amount to the same amount of money. it will be about 60% of the total deficit. that's wait amounts to. so it's going to have to be what the president alluded to vaguely as balance, and whatever they agree to. there will have to be sharp, tough decisions on what will be cut in this federal budget. it's unsustainable. one thing that cheers me and should cheer everyone concerned about responsible fiscal policy is that this president doesn't have any choice. by the way, ultimately neither does baron or mcconnell. we are watching all of the prolific spending, the irresponsibility come crashing down around our heads. the markets cannot suffer m
